  • Review of Niza’s DETOX TEA

    Duration: 9 days
I drank the detox tea twice a day. Rest of the time I drank water or squash. I really liked the taste of it, very refreshing and pleasant taste. It made me thirsty with a dry mouth feeling, but I thought this was a good thing as it made me drink more water.

Sleep: The first 2 days I felt very sleepy by 8pm. My Fitbit shows I slept 10hours those nights! The other nights I slept very well too, feeling of long deep sleep that I hadn’t had since before motherhood! My fitbit record confirms a better sleep pattern compared to other weeks.

Feeling by end of day 9:
I felt lighter especially around my troubled midriff area. I had no headaches, although this could change from person to person . I was expecting some caffeine withdrawal as I usually have 1-2 cups a day coffee/tea but didn’t. I did feel a bit light-headed the first 2 days only. I lost about 0.5kg and the trousers that I usually wear I can feel are looser around my hips. It’s not a weight loss tea but for me I think it’s the accumulative effect of discipline of no dairy ie butter, cheese that made the difference and also made me realise how much extra calories I consume when I have these very often. I cant believe I went so long without coffee/tea, in fact this was the reason I delayed starting the detox tea trial ! I hardly missed it.

    Overall feeling:
It’s hard to describe but I feel ‘healthier’ and lighter. As a troubled sleeper, I think the good quality sleep has made a huge difference to my wellbeing and mood. I The detox tea is like a helpful crutch and tool to take a break from certain food and really focus on what you are putting into your body. Another secondary benefit, no hot coffees meant I drank alot more water. I’ve also made changes now..how many of us spread butter and jam onto our toast out of habit..I’ve learned I can do without the extra calories and enjoy jam on its own on occasion.

It’s the first time I tried non dairy milk and I really liked the almond milk. Innocent brand was very nice but more expensive.
Breakfast: oats with Chia, flax seeds and chopped fruit.
Lunch/dinner was either eggs, smoked salmon, salmon, brown toast, homemade veg soup, chicken with lots of veg and salad on the side.
I did have curry once, instead of white rice I had a pack of Asda micro rice which was a Brown rice/quinoa mix.

My diet didn’t change much as I follow the above usually with Niza wonder tea. Changes were no dairy and no caffeine. One habit I did change was instead of eating toast with soup, I had celery stalks. It thought me that I wasn’t having the bread due to hunger, more for wanting something chewy to go with the liquid soup. It doesn’t always work but Ive swooped 65% of the time now. So the detox also had this impact of making me consider my food options all the time.

I would advise that if you go on the detox, choose the timing carefully when you might be less busy, less social commitments and can focus on a healthy diet and establishing healthy habits. My trial coincided with half term and I know I could have done so much better if my timing was better e.g. a reluctance to drink too much when out and about cos public facilities are so dire lol!
Thanks Niza for giving me the chance to try the detox tea x
